Government of Spain Invests in Facility to Manufacture Solar Thermal Energy Components

Awarded $2.6 Million Grant From Spanish Government for Solar Manufacturing Facility Investment by in first Spanish facility is $12 million; total investment in manufacturing plants expected to reach $140 million

Solar Systems, Ltd. announced today it has received a €1.8 million ($2.6 million) grant from the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Enterprise of the Andalusian Region of to be used for the construction and development of a facility to build solar fields components. The facility, in La Carolina, , will be ’s first manufacturing plant in , and will include lines for the production of parabolic reflectors, metal supports for solar collectors, and other essential components used for conversion of sunlight to clean electricity.

The construction of the plant in La Carolina is expected to be completed in 2012, however, part of the manufacturing lines will be operational already this year. expects to employ in the coming year 70 workers in the new facility, and by 2012, with the completion of the facility, 300 workers will be employed by in La Carolina. Investment by in first Spanish facility is $12 million, and total investment by in manufacturing plants in is expected to reach $140 million.
