Solar Energy Storage Systems to be Discussed at the 2010 International Conference for New and Renewable Energy

Renewable energy conferenceDamascus, (SANA) – Activities of International for New and kicked off in Damascus Monday with the participation of several researchers, universities and local and international specialized institutions.

The three-day conference is to discuss the latest scientific researches in the field of using the alternative energy sources as a strategic choice in addition to being environmentally more convenient. The conference will hold a number of seminars and round tables to discuss the different kinds of the alternative renewable energies in accordance with problems posed by the academic and economic institutions.

In a number of evening sessions, experts from research centers in Germany, Serbia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan presented papers stating that achieving integration among renewable energy sources can guarantee supplying energy to several countries, underlining the need for every side to exert all efforts to guarantee energy sources in the future since the world still has the ability and options to achieve this goal.

Participants discussed producing energy via geothermal heat pumps and methods for optimal use of solar energy storage systems through water heating and cooling in buildings, stressing the need for following new methods and regulations to regulate thermal energy.

They also noted to the importance of providing additional sources for drinking water, which is an important and crucial issue as it represents the greatest challenge to our world at a time when demand for drinking water increases and its sources decrease around the world.

Other issues that were discussed include benefiting from solar energy in the Arab region’s desert areas to produce electricity
