Solar Energy Technology Conference 2010 -April 21-22 San Ramon California
There’s still time to register for SolarTech’s 2010 Solar Leadership Summit, April 21-22 in San Ramon, CA, where industry leaders will convene to develop solutions for accelerating solar energy adoption. IREC, NABCEP, and Solar ABCs are Partnering Organizations for the Summit. IREC Executive Director Jane Weissman will join Gerald W. Bernstein, Director, Advanced Transportation Technologies and Energy initiative, City College of San Francisco, on the workforce session to discuss how current workforce needs and trends are responding to the opportunities in Solar Energy.
IREC, Solar ABCs, NABCEP are partnering organizations for the this California based Solar Energy Summit.
“With so many moving parts in the solar world, the Solar Leadership Summit is a key opportunity for the entire industry to collectively collaborate and find solutions toward a common goal-bringing solar energy to the mass market faster and more efficiently,” said Weissman. “IREC’s focus on some of the current and often difficult issues impacting expanded renewable energy makes a partnership with SolarTech ideal, and we look forward to working with the top thought leaders at the summit.”
Mr. Kevin Fox, of the legal firm Keyes and Fox, along with Mr. Chuck Hornbrook, Itron, Inc., will co-moderate the interconnection session. This session aims to discuss potential challenges associated with facilitating high penetrations of
(1) net energy metered and/or retail non-exporting Solar PV systems and
(2) wholesale systems, and to identify ways that increased cooperation can help avoid or reduce the impact of these challenges.
Larry Sherwood, Solar ABCs Chair, will co-moderate the permitting session with Greg Sellers, President Burnham Energy.
The Executive Director of NABCEP, Ezra Auerbach, along with Doug Eakin, Manager of Business Development, Wieland Electric, will discuss various methods to ensure quality and efficiency within the installed Solar PV environment.
Workforce session attendees will hear business leaders relate current economic trends to the state of the solar energy market and its potential future. Throughout the summit, discussions will explore methods to prepare the current workforce for new solar technologies, including their integration into current workflow processes. The session will also include moderator Rick Kuhn, district director of professional and workforce development for Foothill De Anza Community College in Los Altos Hills, CA.
“As the economy slowly improves, the alternative energy market steadily grows with accelerated demand,” said Doug Payne, executive director for SolarTech. “2010 will be a critical time for the industry to come together and develop solutions that streamline the process for solar adoption and keep it competitive. The Solar Leadership Summit is a key step toward that goal, and we look forward to partnering with IREC to make solar energy happen faster.”
The Solar Leadership Summit will continue its successful collaborative format which allows attendees to network, problem solve and share with top industry thought leaders within multiple break-out sessions.
