U.S. Solar Thermal Power Company Prepares for a Market of 20 Gigawatts by 2020
AREVA has announced that its Global Solar Energy Business Unit will be called AREVA Solar and will be headquartered in Mountain View, California. Dr. Robert E. Fishman will serve as chief executive officer.Dr. Robert E. Fishman will head up this new global division to be headquartered in Mountain View, Calif.
“We expect the global market for concentrated solar power plants to reach 20 gigawatts by 2020, and for AREVA Solar to be the global leader,” said Dr. Fishman. “AREVA Solar combines proven, commercially-available technology and an experienced management team with AREVA’s global market reach and energy expertise.”
Dr. Fishman is a 30-year veteran of the power industry and formerly served as president, chief executive officer and chairman of the solar thermal power start-up Ausra, Inc.
AREVA recently acquired Ausra, Inc. to lead its new Global Solar Business Unit, AREVA Solar.
