Combined Solar Thermal and PV Efficiencies for iPyramid system announced at over 62%

Quadra Solar Corporation  this weel announced that it reached 32.2% PV module efficiency for its iPyramid™ Concentrated Photovoltaic and Thermal (CPVT) system. The combined PV and Thermal efficiencies are over 62%. With additional planned improvements, Quadra Solar expects to raise its PV module efficiency to over 35%, in additional to a matching amount for the Thermal.

The iPyramid™ system will have 4 to 6 times the overall efficiency compared to a solar panel based flat rooftop system. Mr. Arab added “Quadra Solar plans to be the leader in the commercial flat rooftop market, the largest segment of the solar market estimated at $5.5B annually in the US alone”.

Mr. Arab expressed thanks to the Canadian government for making today’s milestone possible. “Without forward-looking government programs supporting solar electricity, we would not have been able to invest in increasing efficiencies and thus bringing down the cost of solar energy.”
