No Mention of Solar Thermal Power as Part of China’s Plan to Reach the 30% Clean Energy Mark by 2015

Electricity generated from clean energy would take up at least 30 percent of ’s total electricity generation during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period (from 2011 to 2015), the Electricity Council predicted at a clean on Wednesday.

An official from the council said that electricity generation from clean energy, especially , and wind power, would be a key part of China’s 2011-2015 plan. What seemed to be missing from the proclamation was solar, specifically power.

In 2009, China’s clean energy electricity generation accounted for 25.5 percent of the total electricity generation. Specifically, hydropower took up 22.5 percent, and nuclear power and wind power took 1 percent and 2 percent, respectively. (
