Struthers Wells to Provide Solar Generation Equipment for Spanish Power Project

Improving solar for parabolic trough technology

Houston, TX – Struthers Wells, a division of Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. (TEi), a Babcock Power Inc. company with offices located in Houston, TX and Warren, PA, has been awarded a contract to design and supply two sets of solar complete with preheaters, kettle type evaporators, superheaters and reheaters, as well as low pressure and high pressure feedwater heaters for power plants located in the Extremadura Region of Spain. The plants are owned by a world leading renewable energy provider.

Struthers Wells equipment will be installed at the two (2) Solar Thermoelectric generation Power Plants, which will have a 50 MW cycle, and as the primary energy source collected by a Parabolic Trough Collectors field (PTC). The Plants will also utilize a molten salts , which permits electrical power generation during the lack of solar radiation. The equipment delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.

“We are pleased to supply equipment and services, and continue the expansion of our technology around the world. The application of our solar steam generators and feedwater heaters in Plants highlights our bpigreen initiative, to provide the most cost effective, environmentally responsible solution for our customers’ specified needs,” stated Ken Murakoshi, Senior Vice President – General Manager of Struthers Wells.
