Pratt & Whitney to Highlight Importance of Waste Heat-to-Power Solutions

Pratt & Whitney Power Systems to host California Industrial Energy Efficiency Seminars

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., March 9, 2012 – Pratt & Whitney Power Systems (PWPS), a world leader in Organic Rankine Cycle solutions for waste heat, biomass, geothermal and solar thermal power applications, will host the California “Waste Heat to Power Road Show.” The three-day event will include experts from industry, finance and government and will focus on the importance of industrial energy efficiency, specifically reducing energy costs and utilizing the California Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) funding to reduce investment costs.

“It’s a critical time to assemble leaders from industry, government and interest groups to establish long-term solutions for today’s energy challenges,” said Chuck Levey, vice president, Pratt & Whitney Power Systems. “As a provider of industrial energy solutions, Pratt & Whitney Power Systems aims to educate through these events and to discuss the positive impact these solutions will have on California and other markets.”

“The Self-Generation Incentive Program is yet more proof that California is leading the charge in the world of clean energy technology,” said Jana Kopyciok, SGIP manager at the California Center for Sustainable Energy in San Diego. “Waste heat-to-power solutions offer a smart, economic approach to creating cleaner energy and reducing the need for additional power plants.”

California has led the nation in its commitment to large-scale, clean energy solutions. The state’s SGIP was modified in 2011 under a California Public Utilities Commission decision making Organic Rankine Cycle/Waste Heat-to-Power systems eligible for the SGIP along with a list of other greenhouse gas-reducing solutions. The program aims to transform the energy marketplace, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and manage peak load performance.
