First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) announced it has sold the 139-megawattAC (MW) Campo Verde Solar Project to Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy. Under the terms of the agreement, First Solar will complete construction of the project and will operate and maintain the power plant for 10 years. Construction of the Campo Verde project began in December 2012 and commercial operation is expected in fall 2013.

Siginik Energy Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Episolar Inc., has signed a definitive power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd. (ECG), the country’s second largest utility, to build a 50MW ground mounted tracking solar installation with the power produced to be purchased by the ECG for a period of 25 years.
The one-of-a kind solar array project will be installed at Neshaminy High School and Maple Point Middle School. Power generation from this renewable energy source is expected to provide approximately 90% of the schools’ current usage.
