Desertec Project – Solar Energy From the Desert Wins Innovation Award
The idea that electrical energy can be generated using existing solar thermal and PV technology in the worlds deserts and cost effectively transmitted to countries in Europe to power whole cities is indeed an ambitious one. It seems that it is also worthy as the best idea for energy innovation in a sea of ideas. In Berlin – The DESERTEC Foundation has won the nationwide innovation competition “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”. Dr. Thomas frills from the Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt recently signed the non-profit Foundation, which promotes the production of solar power from the deserts of the earth as “Landmark in 2010.
